We don't have devices like that in my world.

I don't use magic to cook or clean or do any everyday housework. I once lifted myself to the top of a tower with winds, but that was an experiment. Ordinarily I walk up the stairs just like anybody else. [Tris hates stairs, but she does use them.] I use breezes to keep cool when it's hot out, but I couldn't do that without magic.

Haha it's called a fan though.

Waving a fan isn't nearly as effective as my breezes.

Whatever yo I'm from New Mexico, you don't know from hot until you've been to ABQ.

Where we have electricity and stuff like air conditioning. Way better than breezes.

I've handled more heat than any non-mage could, I just hate being stuck sitting in it.

And I have more electricity than I know what to do with. [Tris maaaaay have lost enough control to start sending off small, harmless sparks. This fever is not going well. She flips to video for just a moment, a tiny bit of lightning crackling over her hair, and then back to text.] How do you condition air?

By cooling it off. There's a machine.

Of course. You have machines for nearly everything, don't you? [Which is an adjustment, and all of the advanced sciences are going to be a big challenge for her. One that she is too tired to even think about tackling right now.]

So what? That's not a bad thing.

No, just something I don't understand at all yet. I want to know how electricity works, for instance.

Yeah IDK, I know there's lightning and magnets involved. And. current.

The lightning is why I'm interested.

And what in Mila's name does IDK mean? [Someone is apparently exasperated with being clueless about vocabulary.]

If you don't know then why are you [and then her fever-addled brain catches up, much more slowly than it would have were she well, but Tris doesn't bother getting rid of what she started to write.]

Is that often done in your world, abbreviating things and assuming your meaning is common knowledge?

[He doesn't exactly joke a lot these days -- but it feels safer, somehow, behind a keyboard. He might even smile a little on his end.]

Are all of them as self explanatory as that one? If not, I suppose I have an interesting guessing game to look forward to.
