[On the other end of the line, Bill snaps his fingers.

Shimmering threads flare to life around Tris' limbs like puppet strings, then crumble. The deal is broken.

Something on Bill's end crunches and pops, like a boot being driven through a pane of glass. The communicator drops to the ground and thumps onto the carpet.]

[Tris is quiet for a moment, then says as neutrally as she can manage.]

You know, telling people you don't need their permission for things that affect them isn't necessarily progress. Respecting free will seems like a large part of the point.

[For all intents and purposes, Tris will be pretending it didn't happen. She doesn't trust Bill's word. Between that mistrust and the number of other ways things can go wrong on the Barge, all of her precautions will remain in place.]
